About the event
At the heart of this recital is Robert Schumann’s song cycle Frauenliebe und -leben, Op. 42, one of the central works of the Romantic Lied repertoire. Through eight songs, Schumann traces a deeply personal journey through love, devotion, marriage, motherhood and loss.
Soprano Maria Skandalidou and pianist Danang Dirhamsyah present the complete cycle, complemented by selected songs by Franz Schubert and solo piano works. Together, the programme explores the intimate connection between poetry, voice and piano that lies at the heart of German Romanticism.
